Lupus :
Lupus systemic lupus erythematosus, is an immune based chronic disease, where the immune system strikes the body's tissues and organs. It causes intense irritation and destruction in almost every organ of the body, such as skin, joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, brain, blood cells, etc. Although the cause of lupus remains unknown it is described as being associated with several factors that are mainly of genetic, hormonal, and environmental disturbances and mainly targeting women in their reproductive ages. Its signs can include general malaise, joint pains, rashes including the butterfly shaped rash that crosses the cheeks to fever and dysfunction of organs. In its most severe manifestation lupus can cause potentially be life threatening as kidney failure, cardiovascular disease or neurological disorders. Treatment commonly focuses on controlling symptoms and flare-up prevention through medications including corticosteroids, antimalarial, immunosuppressants, and NSAIDs. Modification of lifestyle in avoiding the sun and, therefore practicing management of stress tends to reduce flare-ups.
