Neurologist :
A neurologist is a qualified physician who has expertise to diagnose and manage the disorders affecting the brain and the nervous system (including the brain, spinal cord, and nerves). To qualify as a neurologist, one has to complete graduation in MBBS and pursue post graduation (MD or DNB) in Neurology. A neurologist commonly treats neurologic diseases such as alzheimer's disease, dementia, concussion, brain injury, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, encephalitis, epilepsy, pain in neck or spine, vascular malformations, cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, facial pain syndromes, cerebral palsy and plasticity, hydrocephalus, myasthenia gravis, meningitis, headache or migraine, sleep disorders, stroke, peripheral neuropathy, tremor, dystonia and tumors of brain, spine and nerves. Various presenting complains are also dealt by these doctors, which include memory disturbances, facial asymmetries, loss of consciousness, taste or smell disturbances, vision problems, vertigo, seizures, numbness and tingling sensations, imbalance in gait and electrical shock like pain in any part of the body.
