Geriatric Physician :
A geriatric physician is a doctor who specialises in helping senior citizens, who are individuals over the age of 60. Geriatric specialists are often the primary doctors of senior citizens. They diagnose and manage all types of common and uncommon conditions that affect the body as it ages. The qualifications of these specialists include MBBS and MD in General Medicine.
Some of the common conditions that geriatric physicians manage include diabetes, incontinence, sleep disorders, stiffness in the body and osteoporosis. These specialists also manage nutritional deficiencies and mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression in their patients. When a patient visits a geriatric physician, the doctor performs a physical exam and reviews the medical history. Then, depending on the patient's complaints, the physician may order lab and imaging tests.
