A small passage within the hand bones that is present on the side of the wrist that is closer to the palms is called the carpal tunnel. Carpal tunnel has a nerve that is called as the median nerve. This median nerve is responsible for the sensation in the thumb finger, middle and index fingers. This nerve gets pinched and results in Carpal Tunnel syndrome which leads to numbness, tingling sensation and pain in the palm of the hands.
Carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused by repetitive movements of the wrist or wrong placement of the wrist that puts excessive pressure on this area. As for the treatment, initially wrist immobilization is done at night times to reduce pressure of the carpal tunnel. Prescription medications can be given such as anti inflammatory drugs or corticosteroids. In severe cases surgery is performed that removed the ligament compressing the nerve involved.

The most common symptoms as per the best doctor for carpal tunnel syndrome include:
The best way to determine if you are at risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome is to be aware of the primary signs and symptoms, which include tingling, numbness, and pain in the hands, wrists, and fingers. If you experience any carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms it is important to seek medical advice.
The available treatment options for carpal tunnel syndrome include physical therapy, corticosteroid injections, splinting, and surgery. Medications such as Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) and acetaminophen may be used to manage pain and inflammation.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is typically diagnosed through a physical examination and medical history. A nerve conduction study may also be used to confirm the diagnosis.
To prevent carpal tunnel syndrome, make sure to take frequent breaks when engaging in activities that require repetitive motions of the wrists and hands.
The long term consequences of untreated carpal tunnel syndrome can include permanent nerve damage, loss of grip strength, and numbness in the hand and wrist. In the worst cases, surgery may be required to alleviate the symptoms.
