Aortic Aneurysm :
In simple words, an aortic aneurysm is actually a bulge or swelling in the aorta which is the largest artery in the body that actually pumps blood out from the heart to the rest of the body. It develops with a weakening of the wall of the aorta, which then makes it vulnerable to distension. Contributing factors to this weakening include high blood pressure, fatty deposits amassing in the walls of the arteries called atherosclerosis, or inherited conditions. If left untreated, it can rupture, which then leads to fatal internal bleeding. While some aneurysms are symptomless, others may lead to suffering from either back or abdominal pain. The size and location of the aneurysm determine its treatment. The smaller sizes are commonly put in, but with bigger sizes, surgery must be done either to fix it or to calcify it so it does not break open. However, there could be other alternatives, such as revascularization, wherein the flow of blood is restored. In other treatments, what is done is that the vessel is stabilized. Most probable thing is this condition should be attended to and treated and recommendations from a vascular surgeon, cardiothoracic surgeon, or an interventional cardiologist have to be followed.
