Breast Lump :
A breast lump is new tissue formation or new growth in the soft tissue of the breast. It can be small or large, firm and soft, and may be painful or not painful at all. Most breast lumps are benign but can be anything else and may include carcinoma, so many of these need to be evaluated if new and unknown. Among the causes of a breast lump may be cysts, fluid-filled sacs, fibroadenomas, benign tumor, infections. or trauma to the breast. Most of these are benign but sometimes the cyst might be an early indication of breast cancer especially when its size, shape and texture go off the charts, for example hard, irregularly shaped or painless to even touch. There could be swelling, pain, or change on or over the skin of the lump or even nipple discharge. Most lumps do not have evident signs or symptoms. Benign lumps such as cysts are self-limiting and may be self limiting and resolve spontaneously in some cases or at times may require drainage. The diagnosis of suspicious cancerous lumps is carried out by biopsy. Based on the diagnosis, there can be surgery and radiation chemotherapy, etc.
