Keratoconus :
Keratoconus is an eye condition affecting the anatomy of the corneal layer of the eye. It causes the dome-shaped cornea to form cone shaped cornea by reducing the thickness. While the exact cause of keratoconus is unknown, environmental and genetic factors can increases the chance of acquiring keratoconus. It causes double or irregular vision, increases sensitivity to light and glare causing difficulty to drive during late hours, repetitive change of eye glass prescriptions and impromptu cloudy appearance. This condition can be managed by using glasses or soft contact lens initially. If the condition worsens progressively, use of scleral lens, corneal collagen cross-linking procedure or corneal transplant can be considered.
