Drug Allergy :
An allergic reaction to medication is an immunological over-reaction to a prescribed medication. Thus, the body takes the drug to be a threat and reacts with an allergic condition of a medium to extreme severity.A drug allergy may arise from any medication sold over the counter or even herbal supplement; most common offenders are penicillin-type antibiotics, aspirin-type pain relievers, and vaccines. The body reacts to such chemicals by releasing histamine, among other medicines, and a lot of other symptoms.Symptoms of an allergic drug reaction may also start near to almost immediately after the drug is administered, or even within days when the treatment was taken for the first time. Common symptoms include rashes, hives, itch, swelling, and fever. Worse case, it may cause a serious reaction called anaphylaxis, where respiration could be blocked, blood pressure drops, and throats get swollen because of swelling. Anaphylaxis must be treated with drugs medically right away.In the event of suspecting allergy to drugs, we need to immediately withdraw the drug medicine and rush to the nearest hospital or doctor. Even small rashes and itching may be managed with antihistamines; however, if symptoms are accompanied by swelling, a patient needs to be managed with steroids. A patient having anaphylaxis should first be administered an intramuscular injection of epinephrine or adrenaline and then taken directly to the emergency room.
