Diaper Rash :
Diaper rash is an extremely common baby dermatosis caused by overexposure to moisture, friction, and irritants from diapers. Contributing factors include less frequent diaper changes, tough soaps or wipes, and teething. It causes red, inflamed patches on the buttocks, thighs, and genital areas and typically an unhappy baby. Perhaps the best way to treat diaper rash would be to keep the area affected as clean and dry as possible. All of the fundamentals include frequent changes of the diaper, cleansing with warm water, and then mild, fragrance-free products applied to the skin. Adding a barrier cream containing zinc oxide will protect the skin from any moisture. If the rash aggravates or does not get better it is advisable to seek evaluation by the pediatrician since this may be a sign of a fungal infection. In general, it is advisable to have diaper-free times, giving a healthy breathing fit to a baby while on diapers, which may help to reduce the chances of diaper rash and allow the baby's skin to stay healthy. A proper education needs to be given to the concerned person on a regular basis regarding the possible chances of diaper rash if it is not taken care properly.
