A child psychiatrist is a mental health specialist who treats the mental health problems of children and adults up to eighteen years of age. A child psychiatrist holds academic qualifications of a Bachelor's in MBBS, followed by an MD/DNB in Psychiatry and an additional super specialization degree or fellowship in child psychiatry. Child psychiatrists evaluate and manage behavioral, biological, sociocultural, psycho dynamic and familial concerns associated with young adults and children. The specialists also speak with families along with children, and diagnose the mental conditions affecting how a child thinks, feels and acts.
