Gonorrhoea :
Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted disease(STD) caused by bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae that usually effects lower genital tract , rectum ,pharynx and eyes. It can be transmitted by vaginal , anal or oral sex from an infected person and from an infected mother to child during childbirth. The risk factors for gonorrhea includes multiple sexual partners, unprotected sexual intercourse and previous STI’s. The signs and symptoms of the person effected are burning sensation during urination, urethral discharge in men, foul smell, painful urination with increased frequency or urgency,rectal discharge, sore throat (pharynx effected), fever with chills and joint pains. Management is by antibiotic course, notification of the partner, practicing safe sex,using condoms and screening for other STI’s.
