Chalazion :
Chalazion refers to an inflammatory condition characterized by the formation of a swollen, pain-free bump on the eyelid, which forms when the glands of the eyelid are blocked. The symptoms of a chalazion are mild irritation, causing watering of the eye, blurred vision due to a larger chalazion pushing on the eyeball, and an entirely swollen eyelid. There is a higher risk of developing a chalazion in people who have had a chalazion before, who have chronic blepharitis, skin conditions like dandruff or rosacea, with dry skin, and those who are experiencing hormonal changes. A chalazion can be managed at home by warm compression and maintaining good hygiene. Doctors treat chalazion by draining the fluid through an incision and also by steroid injections. The possible complications of chalazia are blurred and decreased vision.
