Amblyopia :
Amblyopia is a disorder of the eye characterized by blurry vision in children. Children with amblyopia usually bump into objects, favor one side of the body, shut one eye, squint a lot, frequently tilt the head to one side, have crossed eyes, and have a droopy eyelid. The common causes of amblyopia are refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, strabismus, and structural eye conditions like droopy eyelids, cataracts, and issues with the cornea. Amblyopia is more likely to occur in those with a family history, developmental delays, premature birth and low birth weight. The treatment modalities for amblyopia are wearing an eye patch to cover the stronger eye for at least few hours per day, wearing eyeglasses to correct refraction errors, using medicated eye drops and finally amblyopia surgery.
