Hydrocephalus :
Accumulation of fluid in the brain is called as hydrocephalus. The fluid which can get accumulated in the brain is the excessive cerebro spinal fluid which moves from spinal cord to brain and acts as a lubricant.
Hydrocephalus us mostly seen in children, it is also seen in adults over the age of 50. Symptoms are Nausea, head ache, poor memory , difficulty in concentration , seizures and difficulty in vision.
Diagnosis is made by physical examination , CT and MRI.
Treatment of hydrocephalus is generally by a surgical intervention like shunt insertion and ventriculostomy.Hydrocephalus should not be neglected as it can lead to permenant damage of brain.
