Branchial plexus is a bundle of nerves that conducts signal from spinal cord to shoulder, hand and arm. They are responsible for the motion of wrists,arms and hands. Branchial plexus injuries typically occurs due to trauma to these nerves. This trauma may happen when these nerves are squeezed or stretched together, or in the more severe cases, torn away or ripped apart from the spinal cord. Symptoms of Branchial plexus injury depends on the severity of the injury,while a minor damage may result in electric shock or burning sensation down the arm, weakness and numbness of the arm and shoulder and more severe cases results in intense pain, loss of sensation in the arm and shoulder,and chronic weakness.
