Coronary Angiogram / Angiography :
A coronary angiogram is a test that makes the movement of blood visible in the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries are the blood vessels that deliver oxygenated blood into the heart. If a doctor suspects that these arteries have become blocked, then they may order a coronary angiogram.
The procedure begins with the patient changing into a medical gown and lying on their back. Then, the patient is given a sedative so they can relax. Next, a cardiologist uses a needle to access an artery in the arm or groin. Then, a catheter is inserted into the artery and guided to the coronary arteries. The tube is guided into the artery with the guidance of an X-ray scanner. When the tube is in place, the cardiologist injects a special dye into the heart.
