Radial angioplasty is a radial artery approach used to perform diagnostic or surgical angioplasty. It is a technique of insertion of a flexible catheter into the radial artery in the arms, under guidance of x-ray monitoring and detecting the blood clots or blockage from fatty deposits in carotid artery by injecting dyes. At the opposite end of the catheter, a deflated balloon is present which will become inflated at the site of blockage or stenosis after injecting contrast fluid through the catheter.
