In such cases, a total hip replacement is carried out, which is one of the major orthopaedic surgeries. In hip arthroplasty surgery, the goal is to attain mobility and function just as the normal hip joint. After the necessary prerequisite steps are ensured, the surgeon does a hip replacement under general anesthesia. Depending on the location of damage, the surgeon places a wide incision to access the hip joint. The head of the bone (femur) that attaches to the joint is cut. Then a slot is made in the bone so that the stem of the prosthesis can be cemented. Then the surgeon will remove the socket part of the joint to replace it with a new cup. The functionality of the new prosthesis is ensured before closing the suture.
