Ventricular septal defect :
Ventricular septal defect(VSD) is a hole in the ventricular septum, which divides two lower heart chambers called ventricles. It can be present since the birth, congenital in origin and close on its own gradually. Some may also develop VSD after cardiac surgery or sudden heart diseases like heart attack. There are about four different types of VSD occurrence such as membranous, muscular, inlet and outlet. The size of the hole or defect determines the severity of the condition and immediate intervention of treatment options. If the hole is up to 3mm in size, then the condition is mild, if it is anywhere between 3 to 5 mm, then it is in the moderate stage. If the hole size ranges from 6 to 10 mm then the condition is very critical and requires surgery. People with the ventricular septal defect may have blue grayish skin tint, poor eating habits, and slow weight gain.
