Hypospadias :
Hypospadias can be described as a condition in which there is underdeveloped foreskin of penis and urethra which is among the babies. There are many types of hypospadias such as coronal, penoscrotal, midshaft, scrotal or perineal, glanular. The symptoms that can be when there is hypospadias can be underdeveloped foreskin, and leading to other symptoms such as problem in urination, undescended testicles, congenital curved penis. The diagnosis of hypospadias can be made through physical examination. The management of hypospadias can be done through surgical treatment called hypospadias repair, in which there is straightening of penis, and then reconstructs the skin over the penis, and the circumcision is done. There are side effects that can be seen with the hypospadias repair such as infection, anesthesia risks, bleeding, abnormal healing leading to scars, urethral diverticulum, urethral stricture, recurrent curvature, urethrocutaneous fistula. The prevention of hypospadias can be made in pregnancy by following careful methods such as avoid smoking and consuming alcohol, maintaining healthy body weight, intake of folic acid supplements, health checkups with doctor regularly.
