Aortic Aneurysm :
Aortic aneurysm is a balloon like bulge/enlargement in the aortic artery, which carries the blood to the heart. It can either dissect the blood vessel by increased blood pressure and cause leakage/pooling or completely rupture causing internal bleeding, both ways end up as fatal causes. It can be presented as thoracic aortic aneurysm, abdominal aneurysm or other parts of the body. Aortic aneurysms are commonly caused by hypertension, atherosclerosis, and hypercholesterolemia. Family history of same aneurysms and inherited connective tissue syndromes like Ehlers -Danlos syndrome may increase the risk of aneurysms. Some of the common symptoms and signs of aneurysms are syncope, tachycardia, shortness of breath, and sharp chest or abdominal pain. Aneurysms are timely managed by medicines to reduce the elevated blood pressure readings, or ultimately by surgical repair or replacement of target area of the aorta.
