Gastro Surgeon :
A surgical gastroenterologist, or simply a gastro surgeon, is a specialist who treats diseases that affect the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. These doctors can perform traditional open surgery, laparoscopy, and robotic surgery to provide relief from various diseases, including GI cancer. Long periods of abnormal symptoms in the GI tract should not be ignored. It's wise to consult a gastrosurgeon when one is frequently experiencing acidity, stomach pain, blood in stools, or loss of appetite. Jaundice, anaemia, and unexplained weight loss may also indicate GI tract issues and warrant a consultation with a gastrosurgeon. In India, these doctors pursue a three-year super-specialty degree after receiving their Master's degree in general surgery. Super-specialty courses include MCh and DNB in Surgical Gastroenterology. After receiving this advanced degree, these doctors must register with the National Medical Commission to officially become surgical gastroenterologists.
