Kidney Function Test :
Kidney function tests are medical tests done to evaluate the efficiency of kidneys in removing waste products from the body. Kidneys also produce hormones that maintain blood pressure, red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body, and vitamin D that maintains bone and muscle health. Kidney function tests are recommended for conditions like hematuria, dysuria, swelling of the hands and feet, problems with peeing, and frequent urge to urinate. Kidney function tests include blood tests like blood urea nitrogen, estimated GFR, serum creatinine, and urine tests like microalbuminuria and urinalysis. Side effects of blood tests include bruising, dizziness, and fatigue. Increased levels of blood urea nitrogen, GFR less than 60, urine albumin to creatine ratio more than 30 milligrams per gram indicate kidney disease.
