Diabetes in Adults :
The body processes and circulates energy in the form of sugar (glucose). When the body becomes unable to process the ingested sugars in the right way, it results in a rise in sugar levels in the blood. Diabetes is a lifelong health problem in which the blood sugar levels become higher than normal. The disease can develop as a result of autoimmune diseases or hormonal imbalances.
An adult affected by diabetes may experience unexplained tiredness, blurry vision, excess urination, weight loss, and slow wound healing. Untreated diabetes can result in serious health problems like heart attack, stroke and coronary artery disease. The diagnosis of diabetes involves blood sugar tests and the treatment involves medications and lifestyle changes. There is no cure for the condition. Depending on the type of diabetes, an affected individual may require regular insulin injections.
