General Physician :
A general physician is a medical doctor who provides healthcare to individuals of all age groups. A general physician will be trained in providing treatment for common illnesses and may refer to the concerned specialist when there is any suspicion of serious illness. A general physician will be qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by a post-graduation in MD, general medicine. They will diagnose and plan management for chronic diseases such as hypertension (high BP), diabetes, bronchial asthma, heart diseases, gastrointestinal disorders like liver diseases, ulcers, gastroenteritis, thyroid malfunctions, neurological conditions like dementia, epilepsy(fits), and brain strokes. A general physician will treat diseases based on physical examination and medical history, and also monitor vital signs like blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate. Then they also suggest diagnostic tests like blood tests (complete blood count), thyroid function tests, lipid profiles, kidney profiles, urine tests, liver function tests, and blood sugar levels to detect the underlying diseases.
