worm infestation :
Worm infestation is also called helminthiasis. Different kinds of worms cause various symptoms and complications. The types of worm infestations are hookworms, roundworms, pinworms, tapeworms, etc. The symptoms of worm infestations are pain in the abdomen, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, anemia, fatigue, itching at anal region, loss of appetite, malnutrition, weight loss, coughing, and passing of worms in stools. It is generally caused due to poor hygiene, consumption of food and water which is contaminated, walking barefoot resulting in contact with contaminated soil, transmission through infected individuals. These are diagnosed through physical examination, blood tests, MRI scan, ultrasound scan, X-rays, and colonoscopy. The treatment for this worm infestation includes medications to kill the microorganisms, practicing good hygiene, preventing the spread from others, etc. There are some preventive measures such as practicing hand washing regularly, eating freshly cooked meals, drinking pure water, consuming well-cooed meat at high temperatures, etc.
