Tachycardia :
A healthy human heart beats between 60 and 100 times in a minute. When the heart beats more than 100 times in a minute, it is called tachycardia. It is common in both middle-aged people and children. An episode of tachycardia can be triggered by heart disease, lung problems, pregnancy, and excess consumption of caffeine or alcohol, among other things. During an episode, the individual may feel discomfort in the chest, lightheadedness, sweating, nausea or fainting. The condition is diagnosed using ECG. However, if an in-office ECG is unable to detect tachycardia, then a doctor may ask the individual to wear a Holter monitor for a day. Most people with this condition do not require treatment. But if someone frequently experiences tachycardia, then medications or procedures may be recommended to restore normal heart rhythm.
