Hypospadias :
Hypospadias is a common birth defect in boys in which the opening of urethra is not at the tip of penis instead the opening is somewhere along the underside of the penis. It is the most common defect in boys and occurs in 1 in out of every 200 male births. Symptoms of hypospadias is the abnormal placement of urethral opening , down ward bending of penis , abnormal shape of penis , hooded skin , difficulty in urination. The exact cause of hypospadias is still not clear but environmental and genetic factors play a role, hormonal imbalances . Diagnosis is done after the birth of the child by physical examination. Treatment options include : In some cases if there is no curvature in the penis and the condition is not severe , then no treatment is needed, but if the condition is severe then surgical correction is advised which involves the repositioning of urethral opening at the tip of penis.
