Cervical Cancer :
The cervix is a muscular organ that connects the vagina to the womb. When the cervix develops cancerous cells that multiply rapidly, it is said that the individual has cervical cancer. The disease begins as precancerous cells that appear on the surface of the cervix. These unusual cells usually develop due to the human papillomavirus.
Cervical cancer rarely causes symptoms before it begins spreading across the body. In the first stage of this cancer, the individual may experience unusual vaginal bleeding, pain during sexual intercourse and an unusual vaginal discharge. If the cancer spreads, it can cause symptoms like painful urination, tiredness, diarrhea and abdominal pain. The diagnosis of this disease usually involves tests like colposcopy, punch biopsy and endocervical curettage. These tests can confirm a cancer diagnosis and warrant further testing with CT scans, blood tests and liver tests. The treatment of cervical cancer usually involves surgery.
