Trigger Finger :
Trigger finger is characterized by making the fingers or thumb difficult to move. The significant signs of a trigger finger are a popping or snapping feeling while moving the fingers or thumb, stiffness and pain while flexing the fingers or thumb in toward the palm, soreness in the palm near the base of the thumb or fingers while gripping or grasping something, a tender lump or a swelling in the palm in the hand and fingers or thumb sticking in a flexed position. The risk factors associated with this condition include gout, diabetes, amyloidosis, osteoarthritis, thyroid disease and rheumatoid arthritis. The treatment plan to manage trigger finger include taking rest, splinting, stretching exercises to help the tendons regain flexibility, using over the counter medications like NSAIDs and corticosteroids to reduce pain and swelling, and trigger finger surgery, if any other treatments don't work.
