Eye Infection :
Eye infections are described as problems of the eye caused by microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, or fungi and cause discomfort, redness, and itchiness. The common types of eye infections include conjunctivitis or pink eye, cellulitis, blepharitis, dacrocystitis, stye, uveitis and endophthalmitis. These eye infections are caused by microorganisms that enter the eye through improper usage of contact lenses and even through eye injuries. The presenting complaints of eye infections include red eyes, eye pain, itching or irritation, watery eyes, swelling of eyes, eyelashes that stick together because of discharge, yellow and sticky pus discharge from the eyes, blurred vision, sensitivity to light and fever. The treatment of these eye infections involves avoiding allergens that cause the infection, using lubricating eye drops, over the counter pain medications, and using warm, damp, and cool compresses to make the eyes feel better.
