Diaper Rash :
A diaper rash is medically termed as a diaper dermatitis. It is one of the most irritating skin conditions usually seen in newborns, infants and children with diaper use. A diaper rash can be caused due to prolonged exposure to stool/urine, excessive friction against diaper area, skin pH imbalance, allergies or sensitivities to diapers, soaps, lotions or detergents, and various infections. A diaper rash can be identified by the presence of blisters, erythema, itchiness and foul odor. A pediatrician can assess the extent of diaper rash and prescribe necessary medicated barrier creams and creams, hygiene guidelines, frequent change of diaper routine and use of breathable diapers. Avoiding skin irritants and monitoring the condition for the first couple of weeks can be beneficial.
