Warts in Adults :
Warts in adults are small and round skin growths caused by human papilloma virus (HPV). They can be classified as common warts, plantar, flat, genital, and filiform warts depending on the location and size. Warts in adults are less prevalent than in children. They are associated with itchiness or burning sensation, bleeding when pricked at, redness and irritation at the affected sites. A dermatologist conducts thorough visual examination and a tissue biopsy of warts to rule out any other conditions. Some of the common treatment options include cryotherapy, application with salicylic acid, cantharidin, imiquimod cream and surgical excision of warts. Adherence to strict practices of good hygiene, avoiding sharing of objects with infected persons, scratching or pricking of the warts. If left untreated, warts can grow in size, shape or color and progress to cancerous conditions.
