Urethritis :
Urethritis refers to an inflammation of the urethra caused by a sexually transmitted infection. Types of urethritis are gonococcal urethritis caused by gonorrhea, nongonococcal urethritis caused by repeated irritation of the urethra, and non-specific urethritis that occurs without a cause. It is most commonly seen between 15 and 24 age, having unprotected sex with more than one sexual partner, people using deodorant tampons, and trauma to the urethra. Symptoms of urethritis are dysuria, dyspareunia, itchiness of the urethra, discharge, pus or blood from the penis, and pelvic pain. It usually occurs due to chlamydia, trichomoniasis, genital herpes, yeast infections, urinary tract infections, exposure to irritants, squeezing penis roughly. Diagnosis is made by lab tests, blood tests, and urine tests. It is treated using antibiotics and can be prevented by practicing safe sex and by avoiding actions or chemicals that may irritate the urethra.
