Ureteroscopy :
Ureteroscopy is a procedure in which a thin scope is inserted into the ureters. The ureters are the tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder. The thin scope used in this procedure is called the ureteroscope. It has a light and a camera at the tip.
Before the procedure begins, the patient is given anaesthesia, causing them to sleep and not feel any pain. Then, the groin area is cleaned and the scope is inserted into the body via the urethra. The urethra is the tube through which the urine exits the body. The scope is gently guided into the ureters. If kidney stones or other obstructions are found, then the surgeon may insert tiny instruments and remove them. The procedure takes about an hour and the patient can go home after a period of observation.
