Swine Flu :
H1N1 influenza or commonly known as swine flu is a feverish infection disease caused by the H1N1 virus, a form of influenza virus. First identified in 2009 this disease mainly causes pigs to fall ill, though it can easily produce illness in humans too. Owing to their likenesses with the symptoms of seasonal flu which includes fever, coughing, sore throat, body aches, and tiredness vomiting and diarrhea are basically seen in this disease. Swine flu virus is transmitted via droplets. It is secreted from the infected person's respiratory tract with coughing or sneezing. Laboratory tests ascertain the presence of swine flu in a patient. Majority of those infected tend to be mild and treated by rest, fluid, and over the counter medications. The severe cases must be presented for consideration of antiviral drugs like oseltamivir. The best prevention that can be made concerning the said condition is through vaccination, especially at the high risk populations like toddlers, elderly, and people with chronic diseases.
