Swelling in feet :
Swelling in feet is known as edema and occurs when there is fluid buildup in the tissues of the feet. The visible symptoms of swelling in feet are swollen or puffy feet, ankles, and legs, stretched or shiny skin covering feet and changes in the color of skin, discomfort near feet, and formation of dents when you press the skin near the feet. The common causes of swelling in feet are long hours of standing or sitting, which causes the fluids to accumulate in the lower feet and toes, pregnancy, foot injuries, weakened valves of veins, which leads to a condition called varicose veins and fluid buildup in legs and also as a side effect of certain medications. It also occurs due to medical problems like kidney failure, liver failure, heart failure, kidney and thyroid diseases, hot weather conditions, poor nutrition, and compromised immune systems. You can try to manage the swelling by elevating the legs or placing the swollen foot on a pillow and avoiding standing or sitting for long hours.
