Scoliosis :
Scoliosis refers to an abnormal side to side, C or S shaped curvature of the spine to the left and right. Scoliosis is classified into various types such as idiopathic scoliosis, congenital scoliosis and neuro muscular scoliosis. Neuro muscular scoliosis occurs due to cerebral palsy, injuries, spina bifida and muscular dystrophy. The chief complains of scoliosis are difficulty in standing upright, back pain, leg pain, core muscle weakness, numbness or weakness, shoulder blades that stick out, uneven shoulders, head that doesn't center above the pelvis, elevated hips, uneven waist, dimples, constant leaning to one side and uneven leg length, hair patches and skin discoloration on the back along the spine, height loss and uneven alignment of pelvis and hips. Scoliosis occurs because of vertebrae malformation during the embryonic development, spine injury, genetic change, tumor on the spine and problems that affect the nerves or muscles.
