Ringworm :
Ringworm, also known as tinea corporis, is a fungal infection. Depending on the affected area of the body, ringworm is classified into several types as athlete's foot, scalp ringworm, jock itch, hands (tinea manuum), toenails or finger nails (tinea unguium or onychomycosis) and beard (tinea barbae). The symptoms induced by ringworm include hair loss or bald spots in the affected region, flat patches with a raised, round border or itchy skin and circular, ring shaped plaques or scales. The risk factors of ringworm include a weakened immune system or autoimmune diseases like lupus, working closely with animals that might have ringworm, those participating in high-contact sports like wrestling and sweating excessively. The treatment methods to manage ringworm include oral medications like fluconazole, steroid creams, antifungal shampoos like ketoconazole shampoo and antifungal creams and powders.
