Renal Diet :
A renal diet is a diet that is recommended when the kidney function declines. It is combined with a healthy diabetic or heart diet to keep the blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and blood cholesterol at normal levels. A renal diet helps reduce the risk of losing kidney function, slows down the progression of disease, and protects from other health complications. A renal diet is low in sodium, potassium, phosphorus, and protein, helps maintain fluid balance in the bloodstream, and keeps the nerves and muscles functioning. The diet includes vegetables like cabbage, bell peppers, onions, and cauliflower and fruits like apples, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries, and red grapes and proteins like eggs, fish, and lean meat and seasonings like olive oil, dried herbs, garlic, and spices with whole grains that include barley, buckwheat, wild rice, and unsalted popcorn.
