Red eye :
Red eye is a term that refers to red and irritated eyes that occur due to inflammation of tiny blood vessels. It is mostly due to allergies, dry eyes, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, uveitis, scleritis, subconjunctival hemorrhage, eyelid stye, angle-closure glaucoma, corneal ulcers, injury, contact lens wear, photokeratitis, ocular rosacea, trichiasis, cellulitis, endophthalmitis, onchocerciasis, and retinoblastoma. Other causes include chlorine in swimming pools, dust, cigarette smoke, perfume, UV rays, and scratches in the cornea. It can be treated by applying a cool compress, medications, artificial tears, avoiding irritants, washing hands frequently, avoiding makeup, and limiting screen time. Symptoms may include eye pain, itching, burning, tearing, eye discharge, swollen eyes and blurred vision, heavy eyelids, not being able to cry, eye fatigue, discomfort with contact lenses, and headache.
