Pituitary Problems :
The pituitary gland is a small gland in the brain and a key part of the endocrine system. It is known as the master gland, since it releases hormones that control other glands such as the thyroid and adrenal glands. When the pituitary gland does not release hormones as expected or develops an unusual growth, it is said that the individual has pituitary problems.
Pituitary problems can develop at any age, and in some cases, they occur due to genetic conditions. Head injuries, cancer treatments and certain medications can also cause pituitary problems. The symptoms of pituitary problems include irregular menstruation, high blood pressure, growth problems, weight gain, vision changes, tiredness, diabetes and anxiety. An endocrinologist can determine whether an individual has pituitary problems with blood tests, MRI scans and CT scans. The treatment of pituitary problems usually involves medications or surgery.
