Overactive Bladder :
An overactive bladder makes an individual feel powerful urges to urinate that they find difficult to control. These urges may occur even if the bladder isn't full. In some cases, these urges occur because the bladder is overly sensitive. In other cases, the bladder squeezes on its own, which can result in unintentional leakage of urine. An overactive bladder may be caused due to diabetes, hormonal changes, brain problems like stroke, tumours in the bladder and urinary tract infections. Drinking too much caffeine or alcohol can also result in an overactive bladder. The underlying problem is diagnosed using urine exams, neurological exams or urodynamic tests. The condition can be treated using behavioural therapies, medicines, bladder injections or nerve stimulation. If these treatments do not work, then a doctor may recommend surgery.
