Nerve injuries :
Nerve injuries will be caused due to many reasons. The nerve injuries can be caused by surgery, accidents, falls, medical conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, injuries during sports, diabetes, or damage to the nerves, or Guillain-Barre syndrome. There are various types of nerve injuries, which include axonotmesis, neurotmesis, and neurapraxia. The symptoms which will be observed in nerve injuries will be mild to severe pain, numbness, tingling sensation, weakness, difficulty in bowel and bladder movements when nerves in those organs are injured, and loss of function. Nerve injuries will be detected based on the physical examination, medical history, and diagnostic tests, including MRI scan, electromyography (EMG), CT scan, and ultrasound scan. The management advised for the nerve injuries, such as medications, nerve regeneration, physiotherapy, conservative care in case of mild injuries, like immobilization, adequate rest, surgery to relieve the pressure upon the nerve, and pain management.
