Mouth ulcer :
Mouth ulcers are tiny painful lesions that occur in the mouth, gums, tongue, inner cheeks or lips. They are typically round to oval in shape, have a white or yellow center and a red border. These frequently occur due to minor burns caused by biting the cheek, sharp food edges or ill-fitting dentures, stress, hormonal fluctuations and nutritional deficiencies like Vitamin B12, vitamin B1 or iron and folic acid. Mouth ulcers can be caused by spicy and acidic foods as well as other mouth conditions or any underlying diseases. Symptoms are discomfort or pain, most often with eating, drinking or talking. Mouth ulcers generally go away on their own over one to two weeks, but chronic ulcers are a sign of a possible issue that should be addressed. Treatment includes antiseptic gels or regular mouth washing or applying ointments that are analgesic. Oral hygiene, drinking lots of water and not having much of spicy or acidic food helps as well. Having food to fix nutritional deficiency is equally important in this aspect.
