Mastectomy :

Mastectomy is the surgical excision of one or both breasts. The leading cause of mastectomy is breast cancer. Thus, the surgery targets the spread of cancer cells within the breast tissue. Mastectomies are of several types based on the amount of tissue that is removed. For example, in Total mastectomy, removing the whole breast along with one or more than one lymph nodes are removed. Most of the times , patients will have a risk of developing cancer of the healthy breast when the opposite breasts is carcinogenic, then a procedure in regard to double mastectomy may be taken upon her/him. Reconstruction follows and can include the implantation of breast tissue or autogenous transfer from other areas of the body. It usually takes a period of one to three days and after the surgery, the patient will advised rest for a short period. Some post-operative cares include pain management and no lifting very heavy things, and exercises for their arms.
