A person with loss of smell (also called anosmia) finds it difficult to detect any odours. Loss of smell is a common temporary side effect of a sinus infection and also occurs due to traumatic brain injuries. The other factors responsible for causing loss of smell are nasal polyps, hay fever or other allergies, common cold, COVID- 19, nasal congestion, influenza, deviated nasal septum, sinus infection, alzheimer's disease, brain tumours, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis, Kallmann syndrome, Sjogren's syndrome and parkinson's disease.
