Learning Disabilities :
Learning disabilities are neurodevelopmental disorders that reduce an individual's ability to learn. An individual affected by a learning disability may find it difficult to concentrate, write, read, remember information or understand concepts. Some learning disabilities also affect an individual's ability to coordinate their movements and perform mathematical calculations.
Learning disabilities develop because of problems in the neurological functioning. The neurological problems that cause learning disabilities can develop before, during or after birth. The diagnosis of learning disabilities involves a number of tests, such as neurological tests and academic tests. There is no cure for learning disabilities. However, a timely diagnosis and proper treatment can help an individual overcome their condition and become successful. The treatment of learning disabilities involves a combination of psychotherapy, medication, and special education. Depending on the underlying condition, patients may also require speech or language therapy.
