Lasik :

LASIK is an optical surgery widely performed to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. This surgery procedures a laser across the cornea, part of the eye clear in front, so that its reshaping allows light to focus properly upon the retina of the eye. LASIK involves opening a thin flap in the cornea, elevating it, and then using a laser to remove tissue and reshape the cornea. The flap then is replaced and healing starts quite promptly. Most of the patients have a highly favorable improvement in their vision within a day or two after surgery without much discomfort. Although LASIK is known to be safe, several risks can occur, including dry eyes, glare, and fluctuations in vision. This preoperative examination of the eyes plays a very important role in establishing whether a patient is ideal for undergoing the surgery.
