Iritis :
Iritis is a condition in which the coloured part of the eye, called the iris, becomes swollen and irritated. The iris comprises tiny fibers that control the flow of light into the eyes. An individual affected by iritis may feel pain in the eyes or eyebrows. The pain can become severe when the individual is exposed to bright light. Other symptoms of this condition include redness of the eyes, a change in pupil shape, headache and blurry vision.
The diagnosis of iritis involves a number of tests. An ophthalmologist will perform tests like pressure readings, visual acuity tests and slit lamp exams. In some cases, blood tests and imaging tests such as a CT scan may also be required. The treatment of this condition may involve medications and eye drops. In severe cases, surgery may be required for relief.
